Confiscated property from alleged Cirò Marina clan affiliate

Movable and immovable property worth approximately 200,000 euros was seized by the Cosenza Financial Police, in coordination with the Catanzaro DDA, from Vincenzo Santoro, believed to be affiliated with the “Farao-Marincola clan of Cirò Marina. The seizure order, aimed at confiscation, was issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Catanzaro at the request of the deputy prosecutor, Alessandro Riello, and with the coordination of the deputy prosecutor, Vincenzo Capomolla, and the prosecutor Nicola Gratteri. 

Santoro was involved in the operation “Styx” in relation to which last September the preliminary hearing judge of Catanzaro, following the summary trial, pronounced a first-instance sentence of more than 17 years in prison for participation in mafia association, procuring non-compliance with the sentence, aiding and abetting, disturbing the freedom of enchantments, attempted extortion), all aggravated by Article 416 bis. 

According to the magistrates, Santoro is the “controller” on behalf of the clan “Farao – Marincola”, of the entire Sila plateau. As regards public and private forest contracts, he also deals with supporting fugitives and maintaining relations with the various criminal organizations in the area. 

The asset investigations carried out by the Guardia di Finanza of Cosenza highlighted that, during the period concerned, Santoro and his family members did not produce income and adequate economic resources, of legal origin, highlighting the inequality between income capacity and the value of the acquired assets, consisting of 3 properties in the municipality of Mandatoriccio as well as financial resources.
